Activated Carbon Installation and Maintenance Guidelines

1. Activated Carbon:

After the activated carbon is added to the tank, it should be soaked for at least 24 hours. This helps effectively reduce the floating rate of the carbon and minimize carbon loss.

2. Washing Activated Carbon:

Begin with a 15-minute air wash, followed by a 15-minute water wash. Repeat this cycle until the water runs clear and the activated carbon is visible.

Note: Air and water washing should not be performed simultaneously, as this could damage the strength of the activated carbon.

3. Washing Water Requirements:

The water used for washing should be either fire-fighting water or tap water. Wastewater should not be used, as it may increase the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) of the effluent.
